It's shared harbor with New Bedford is the largest income producing fishing port in America with roughly 500 commercial vessels. The Homestead is 2 miles from the New Bedford Whaling Museum, the Seaman's Bethel (featured in Moby Dick), and many local restaurants offering traditional New England seafood as well as Portuguese food. Also in the area are wineries, a zoo, several marinas, whale watching, walking trails and more.
