Samsung launches $59 Galaxy Buds Core with premium features

Samsung launched its most affordable wireless earbuds, the Galaxy Buds Core, in India today with a price tag of Rs. 4,999 (approximately $59), making premium features like active noise cancellation and artificial intelligence accessible to budget-conscious consumers. The earbuds go on sale Thursday at noon local time through Samsung's website, Amazon India, and select retail stores.

The Galaxy Buds Core represent Samsung's first entry into the sub-Rs. 5,000 true wireless stereo market, undercutting the company's existing Galaxy Buds FE by $40. Despite the lower price, the earbuds retain features typically found in premium models, including active noise cancellation and Galaxy AI's Interpreter tool for real-time language translation during face-to-face conversations.

The earbuds deliver up to 35 hours of total battery life with active noise cancellation disabled, or 20 hours with the feature enabled12. Each earbud houses a 65mAh battery while the charging case contains a 500mAh battery1. The design includes secure-fit wingtips similar to the Galaxy Buds FE and supports Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity with AAC, SBC, and Samsung's Scalable Codec for enhanced audio quality23.

Three microphones in each earbud promise clear call quality, while an IP54 rating provides protection against dust and light water splashes14. The earbuds support seamless pairing with Samsung Galaxy devices and include an auto-switch feature for multi-device connectivity4.

Limited Launch Ahead of Unpacked

The Galaxy Buds Core launch comes just ahead of Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event scheduled for July 9, where the company plans to unveil new foldable devices and wearables1. However, Samsung has not confirmed whether the earbuds will reach markets beyond India, leaving U.S. availability uncertain23.

According to Android Authority, the earbuds "seem destined only for the Indian market at the moment," though Samsung could announce broader availability at the upcoming Unpacked event2. The early launch represents an unusual strategy for Samsung, which typically debuts new products at major events.

Samsung India is offering promotional pricing including no-cost EMI options starting at Rs. 417 per month for 12 months, and a Rs. 1,000 discount for customers purchasing select Galaxy A-series smartphones4. The Galaxy Buds Core will be available in black and white color options4.

The launch positions Samsung to compete more aggressively in the budget wireless earbuds segment while maintaining its premium audio features that have helped establish the company as a leader in the soundbar market for nine consecutive years.
