DJI launches 2048Wh portable power station for $1,299

DJI, the drone manufacturer that has dominated aerial photography markets, announced Tuesday the release of its Power 2000 Portable Power Station, doubling down on the company's year-old expansion into portable energy storage as demand surges for mobile power solutions among content creators and outdoor enthusiasts.

The 2048Wh unit, priced at $1,299, represents a direct response to user feedback since DJI launched its Power Series just over a year ago, according to company executives. The device can expand to 22,528Wh when connected with up to ten additional battery units, positioning it as both a consumer product and a scalable commercial solution.

Targeting Professional and Emergency Markets

The Power 2000 delivers 3000W of continuous output, enough to run 99% of household appliances, and can charge a digital camera 118 times or power photography lighting for 2.4 hours1. At 50 pounds, the unit challenges traditional definitions of portable but fits within carry-on dimensions at 16 inches long23.

"We first launched our DJI Power Series just over a year ago to meet the energy demands of users around the world who have increasingly turned to DJI equipment," said Christina Zhang, Senior Director of Corporate Strategy at DJI4. "Seeing increased power demand for various scenarios, we've developed this higher-capacity model to meet user needs."

The device charges to 80% capacity in 45 to 55 minutes and switches to backup power in 0.01 seconds during outages, features that target both content production workflows and emergency preparedness markets56.

Strategic Expansion Beyond Drones

DJI's move into portable power reflects broader industry trends as creators demand reliable mobile energy sources. The company's timing coincides with growing adoption of electric vehicles and off-grid living, markets that increasingly overlap with DJI's traditional customer base of photographers and filmmakers.

Ferdinand Wolf, Product Experience Director at DJI, emphasized the engineering focus: "We've increased the capacity while optimizing the size-capacity ratio and safety design to ensure users' energy concerns are a thing of the past"1.

The Power 2000 uses lithium iron phosphate batteries rated for 4,000 cycles, approximately 10 years of daily use1. Safety features include 26 thermal sensors and flame-retardant materials designed for outdoor environments2.

The unit launches with multiple charging options including solar input up to 1800W and integration with DJI's Home app for remote monitoring2. Amazon immediately offered the device at a $300 discount, suggesting competitive pressure in the portable power market3.

"Whether used in a home or outdoor environment, our new Power 2000 and associated accessories have been designed to meet demanding power needs," Wolf added4.
