Apple Music marked its 10th anniversary today with two major announcements: the launch of Replay All Time, a new feature revealing users' most-played songs since joining the service, and the unveiling of a state-of-the-art 15,000-square-foot artist studio in Los Angeles designed to foster creativity and deeper fan connections.
The streaming service, which launched June 30, 2015, now holds approximately 31 percent of the American music streaming market, according to Demand Sage. The anniversary celebrations include a week of special programming on Apple Music Radio and a countdown of the platform's 500 most-streamed songs over the past decade.
Replay All Time offers users a unique perspective on their listening habits by compiling their top tracks from their entire Apple Music subscription history1. The playlist appears prominently in the app's Home tab under "Top Picks For You," providing what Apple describes as an "annual Replay, but for your entire listening history"2.
The feature launches alongside special programming on Apple Music Radio, including an eight-hour broadcast event telling "the stories of the greatest artist moments, exclusive releases, live events, and cultural milestones that only Apple could deliver"3. The countdown of Apple Music's top 500 most-streamed songs begins Tuesday, with 100 songs revealed daily through Saturday1.
The new three-story Los Angeles facility, opening this summer, includes two advanced radio studios with immersive Spatial Audio playback, a soundstage for performances, a Spatial Audio mixing room, and photo and social media labs12. The studio will anchor Apple's existing global network of creative hubs in New York, Tokyo, Berlin, Paris, and Nashville3.
"Apple Music Radio has always been a home for storytelling and artistry, serving as a space for bold conversations and surprising moments," said Rachel Newman, Apple Music's co-head. "With this new studio, we are furthering our commitment to creating a space for artists to create, connect, and share their vision"1.
Apple Music Radio, which began as Beats 1, has distinguished itself through "expertly curated, artist-led storytelling" and streams 24/7 globally for free1. Zane Lowe, Apple Music's global creative director and radio host, reflected on the platform's evolution: "Ten years on, Apple Music Radio is everything we hoped it would be. It's a place where we can eventize music, a place where music comes first, always"2.
The anniversary programming continues through the week, culminating with "Live: 10 Years Of Apple Music" featuring artists who "shaped the trajectory of the service"1.
